Kevin Magnussen told how his second coming to Formula 1 changed him.


The Dane returned to the championship, replacing Nikita Mazepin in the Haas lineup at the beginning of 2022. According to Magnussen, the new mental attitude allowed him to worry less and enjoy racing.


Kevin beat teammate Mick Schumacher at the end of the year, and in Brazil he brought the team its first ever pole position.


The biggest pressure is my own expectations. From early childhood, my life revolved around Formula 1, getting to the top of the sport. I thought that the Formula 1 championship prediction by watch soccer games title was the highest goal that can be achieved in life, but now I understand that this is not so.


Understanding has relieved some of the pressure, which is great. Now I enjoy Formula 1 much more. With my previous mindset, I always felt a lot of fear because of all the pressure I was putting on myself. I was afraid that I wouldn`t be able to be happy if I didn`t achieve success in sports - of course, this is a heavy burden of expectations.


And there is pressure from other people. Our sport is very competitive in many ways. I think this is a positive transition for me. Many people have joked that you lose a tenth or two when you become a father, but of course that`s not true. I think it`s the other way around.


It`s easier to enjoy racing and nothing doubts my love for F1. Now I don`t feel as much pressure. Naturally, there are serious expectations from oneself, great ambitions, but the situation has changed. Everything`s under control. "I`m happy, " Kevin admitted.
